Do you know what Medicare Part C covers? Do you know what a PPO or HMO is? Do you know what Medicare is? If you have answered yes or no to any of these questions, read on.
Part A - Hospital Inpatient
Part B - Hospital Outpatient, doctor’s visits, ambulance, laboratory, etc.
Part D - Prescription Drugs
When you join Medicare Part C you are joining a Medicare Advantage Plan. This means you have a Primary Care Medical Doctor. This doctor refers you to specialists and managers all your medical needs. You will not be able to visit any doctor of your choice. You stay within the group you are assigned.
Medicare Advantage Plan or Part C is a combination of Part A, Part B and possibly Part D. Your monthly premium payment will be lower than having Medicare Part A,B, and D separtely.
It is a way to save money on Part B. When you have Part B there are several insurance companies to choose from but there is a monthly charge. Some of the plans include Medicare Part D which is prescription drugs.
If you want to save money on your monthly health care premium this is the way to go. Always call Social Security of Medicare to help you make the best decision for your personal needs.
When you have Part C you pay a co pay for each doctor’s visit.
HMO - HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATION:
You are in a network and use the doctor’s and medical facilities in the contracted organization.
PPO - PREFERRED PROVIDER ORGANIZATION:
You can use doctors out of network but the cost will be higher upon receiving your provider bill.
When you have Medicare Part C you have the option of choosing and HMO or PPO.
Only you can make the decision of what kind of Medicare coverage you need. Call Medicare and Social Security they are always there to help you make this decision.
